Course administration system

Tilburg University is a leading academic institution in the Netherlands and is ranked in the top 40 worldwide in the fields of Law, Business and Economics. This university also offers internal training and education, available to teachers through their TeacherAcademy.

Requirements: Maintaining course administration efficiently

A large amount of information has to be maintained for the courses, including registrations and cancellations, course progress and availability. Previously, this was done manually in separate e-mails and Excel files.

We were asked to set up this course administration process more efficiently. This was achieved with a system based on SiliconCode.

Gaining an overview with a course administration system

The application screens were set up in collaboration with university staff. All required data is visible at a glance.

Via the backend, trainers can easily add new courses themselves, gain insight into ongoing training courses, and send emails to students.

New students register via a dynamic online form, in which the availability and session schedule of the chosen course is immediately visible.

Reporting & secure access

The new course administration system provides insight into which training courses are followed, by whom, and from which faculty the students come.

The reporting tools of Silicon Low Code make it even easier to gain insight into course data; any desired data point can be collected in a report. For further use within the organization, the report is converted to Excel.

Educational institutions work a lot with personal data, which must be stored and processed correctly and securely. University employees gain access to the application with their organization account via Single Sign-On.

Send training certificates from the course administration system

After completing a course, the student receives a personalized certificate. Using a template, this certificate is generated in the course administration system.

The trainer emails the certificates to the selected students with one click.
